What are the majors offered at WSU?

Washington State University offers more than 200 “fields of study” that can contribute to majors, minors, or courses of study. At last count, there were more than 85 undergraduate majors possible at WSU.

What do I need to be admitted to Washington State University?

That depends on whether you are:

Go to Admission for the requirements that fit you.

Do I have to be accepted to the University before I can apply for a scholarship?

No. Apply for scholarships at the same time you apply for admission to the University. You will need a WSU ID number in order to access the scholarship application form. For tips on how to fill out your application, see our online worksheet.

If my GPA is below 3.0, can I still get into WSU?

Yes, you can. Washington State University uses a comprehensive evaluation process that includes but is not limited to your GPA, SAT/ACT test scores, and personal statement if applicable. (All freshmen and transfer students with less than 40 quarter hours of transferable credit at the time of application must submit the personal statement.)

What is the minimum GPA for admission?

There is no specified minimum GPA for admission. The state of Washington specifies that a GPA below 2.0 is not eligible for admission, but this does not mean that anyone with a GPA of 2.0 or above will be admitted. Admission to WSU is competitive, and students with GPAs of 3.40 and above generally have the best chances for admission.

Have you received my transcripts?

The Office of Admissions will mail you a letter regarding the receipt of your application and/or if a specific document or transcript is needed. If you receive a letter stating that your official transcript needs to be sent, yet you believe that you did this, it is best to call and confirm whether we have or have not received the transcript.

If I have a 2.5 transfer GPA, does that mean that I’m automatically admitted?

No. Admission is based on your academic record and performance. If you have a qualifying GPA you are eligible for admission if space is available at the time you apply.

I didn’t attend college for the last quarter, even though I put it on my application. Why do I need to send an official transcript from the school?

We must have a final official transcript from all post-secondary schools. The date you wrote on your application is considered the official date of your last attendance at that institution. If you indicate that your final term (application question 57b) is other than what you wrote when listing your colleges/universities (application question 60), you must submit a final transcript that reflects the date given in application question 57b.

Why does WSU require a final official transcript?

In order to show the last semester/quarter you attended school. This will also insure that you obtain any possible transfer credit still due to you. In addition, the transcript shows your GPA at that institution and indicates to us your academic eligibility to transfer to WSU.

I turned in my application but have not heard anything from WSU. Do you send a letter telling me my application has been received?
