Associate degrees and how they transfer to WSU.

Washington

Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) 

Students who have completed a Direct Transfer Associate (DTA) degree from a Washington community college, including a course pattern which approximates the General Education Requirements (GERs) for graduation from Washington State University, as determined by the Office of Admissions at Washington State University, will be considered to have fulfilled the lower-division General Education Requirements for graduation and will generally be given junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring. 

Associate of Science-Transfer (tracks I and II) (AS-T)

Students who have completed an Associate of Science Transfer (AS-T) degree from a Washington community college will receive the same priority consideration for admission to the baccalaureate institution as they would for completing the Direct Transfer Associate degree and will generally be given junior standing. Transfer students will be required to complete general education requirements after transfer to the baccalaureate institution if those were not completed while earning the AS-T degree. 

Additional general education, cultural diversity, and world language requirements, plus any departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS-T)

Students who have completed the Associate of Applied Science (AAS-T) degree from a Washington community college will have their courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis. This degree does not fulfill the lower-division General Education Requirements for graduation at Washington State University, nor are the students guaranteed junior standing. 

Additional general education, departmental and college requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

ARIZONA

Students who have completed the Associate of Arts (A.A. or AA/GR) degree from a public Arizona community college generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

CALIFORNIA

Students who have completed the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree along with providing the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) verification from a public California community college generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

HAWAII

Students who have completed the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree from a public Hawaii community college generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

IDAHO

Students who have completed the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from either North Idaho College or College of Southern Idaho generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree.  Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

OREGON

Students who have completed the Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer Degree (AAO-T) from a public Oregon community college generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. In addition, students who have completed the Associate of Science, Athletic Training Emphasis from Southwestern Oregon Community College guarantees the same as mentioned above. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.

NEW MEXICO

Students who have completed the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree from New Mexico Military Institute earned fall 2002 or later generally guarantees completion of the lower-division General Education Requirements, but does not guarantee junior standing. 

Additional departmental and college graduation requirements, as required by Washington State University, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements in the year prior to transferring.
