Cost to attend

Students: $215.00
All new students are assessed a one-time matriculation fee in their first semester of enrollment, in addition to tuition and mandatory fees. The matriculation fee covers services and programs for new students including orientation/registration programs (Alive!, Transfer Registration Days, Spring Welcome), fall Week of Welcome activities, extended orientation events and university publications that students will receive during orientation and use while attending Washington State University.

Parents: $140.00

Parents and/or guests planning to attend an Alive! new student orientation session during the summer will pay a program fee of $140. This fee includes:

  • Two nights stay in a residence hall
  • Meals while in session
  • Parking permit for your orientation session
  • Faculty reception/academic fair
  • University publications received throughout the program
  • An orientation notebook (a complete resource manual)
  • Workshop presentations and handouts
  • Parent program staffing

Payment Options

  1. Pay matriculation fee online. Students, parents, and guests wishing to register online for an upcoming Alive! session can do so by paying the matriculation fee and any parent/guest program fees with a Visa or Mastercard.

  2. Defer matriculation fee. Students, if you have received notification from the University that you are eligible for financial aid, you may be able to use a portion of your fall semester award to pay your matriculation fee. If you would like to defer payment of your matriculation fee, download the reservation form. Complete this form, checking your intention to defer payment until the fall semester, and mail it in. Your matriculation fee will be charged to your student account which you can pay at the beginning of the fall semester. Parent/guest reservation fees cannot be deferred to the students account and must be paid prior to attending the orientation program.

  3. Other funding options. The Office of New Student Programs has limited funding available for students who demonstrate financial need. To inquire about availability and eligibility for this funding option, please call the Office of New Student Programs at 509-335-4242, or e-mail us at orientation@wsu.edu.
