The WSU experience.

Growing year by year

By Star

Junior

My college experience and Washington State has been less about college and more about experience. I have spent three years becoming really active on campus because I find that I am happiest when busy. My freshman year I was a Varsity Athlete on scholarship, then a Resident Advisor. My sophomore year I returned as a Residential Educational Advisor (REA), worked in Dining Services and became active in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Allies (GLBA) student group on campus. This year I am again an REA, active in the GLBA, working as a Cougar Connector in the Office of Admissions, and a volunteer for Women's Transit. My favorite part of WSU is all the opportunities to get connected and involved on campus; I find that it's the best way to make friends and stay invested. Though these activities may distract me from my education, with my friends and colleagues, we support each others' academic goals. Washington State is truly a family and that is why it is such an amazing place to live, learn, and grow. GO COUGS!

My transition to WSU

By Meg

Senior

Before I came to Washington State University I was so nervous. Once I got to campus, it only took me a couple of weeks before I became more acclimated to what "real college life" was like. I've made more memories in the past three years than in my entire life. I've made friendships that I will never ever lose, and have grown and learned more and more about myself every day. Washington State University is the epitome of a college town that has an amazing, contagious atmosphere. Just by driving through campus and town it's obvious to see just how much we love our Cougs.

2 sides to WSU

Life here can best be summed up in this interesting acronym: Overly Beneficial to Study Eat Sleep Study Eat Do well. OBSESSED. Life without it here at WSU would not be possible. However, I have found that if you are living an OBSESSED life you can have a Cool Relaxed Awesome Zealous Interesting Effective or CRAZIE life. WSU is fun, safe, and an encouraging environment in which to learn. Keep on keeping on. COUG!

My second year and going strong

By Selene

Sophomore

It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my dorm. Within that first week of college I met so many new people. Everyone just kind of left their doors open and people came in just to say hey. It made it really easy to meet friends. It was a really nice transition into college. I met my best friend during that first week, and now we are roommates. My experience has been about building new relationships with people. I'm now a sophomore and just moved into a new apartment this year. I finally feel like I'm on my own. School is harder then ever but I'm loving the stuff I'm learning. I learned to appreciate every moment I'm here at WSU. I feel so young like I just started but really I only have two and a half more years which I know will go by so fast. I'm still learning how to balance school and have fun. But it is fun to kick back every once in a while and live it up.
