On being new to WSU.

A lo-o-o-ong way from home

By Rosemary

Before attending classes at Washington State University, I was so nervous and scared I actually cried. I didn't know anyone and I wanted to go back home, but actually I had no choice, WSU was my final decision and the first day of classes started tomorrow. See, I'm an out of state student; my hometown is Dallas, Texas. So when I came here I did not have any friends that were going here and I was not used to being thousands of miles away from home!! On top of all my problems, I did not see any minorities, so I began to worry! After crying, I remember going to the Rotunda to get myself a bite to eat, this is where I met my friend Shola. She invited me to an African Friendship Association meeting, and that is where I met the majority of my friends. I am now involved in various organizations on this campus and I believe that it is a great way to meet new people, especially people who are not new and that can help you in your transition. My freshman year was a BLAST and I love WSU!! I'm PROUD to be a COUG!!

GOOOOO COUGS!!

Hey! You'll never believe how much fun I'm having here. The rec center is awesome! My roommate is really cool too, he helped me find all my classes and get my Cougar Card. The teachers seem pretty enthusiastic, but they also seem like they're going to push me further than I've been pushed before, so I'm nervous but excited at the same time. The people on campus are really friendly, and are always inviting you to their houses on the weekends and stuff to hang out or watch the game. College life is where it's at. Well, I better get back, I'm late for class!
