Future Cougars of Color Scholars Program

About the scholarships.

Everyone who attends the entire Future Cougars of Color (FCOC) event can receive a scholarship. Scholarships are offered in varying amounts, from $1,000 to $10,000 per year, and are renewable for up to four years.

How the scholarships are awarded

Award amounts are determined by interviews with WSU faculty members, participation in group activities, and by a faculty-reviewed portfolio of your academic and personal achievements. A faculty committee reviews the portfolios and the results of the interviews and activities, then selects students for varying award levels. The awards are announced at the banquet at the end of the event.

Preparing for the scholarship process

Upon registering for the FCOC event, you will receive information on what to expect and what materials you should prepare.

Specific instructions on preparing for this year’s scholarship program will be posted here prior to the event.

In order to qualify for scholarships through the Future Cougars of Color program, students must attend the event. If you can’t attend the Future Cougars of Color event, you still can be considered for other scholarships at Washington State University. You can find out more about the University's many scholarship opportunities by visiting www.wsu.edu/scholarships.

There are also many other opportunities to visit campus throughout the school year. To take advantage of one of these opportunities, see our student visits Web site or call Visitation Programs at 509-335-7345.
