Transfer students: your world-class education is more possible than ever.

We've expanded opportunities to fund a WSU education for transfer students who desire a superior college education.

For Washington residents, the Cougar Commitment Program helps make a Washington State University education accessible. If you apply for admission and submit your academic scholarship application by January 31, you are automatically considered for these awards:

700+ awards from colleges, departments, and academic programs
Awards are based on varying combinations of academic performance, extracurricular involvement, financial need, and academic interest area. Many are available to transfer students. Award amounts vary, and are worth up to thousands of dollars.

To be automatically considered for these awards:

Cougar Commitment
This program pays full tuition and required fees, and is renewable for up to four years. You can qualify for this award if you:

  • Are from a low-income or lower middle-income family in Washington and meet State Need Grant or Pell Grant requirements.
  • Apply to WSU by January 31, and enroll as a full-time freshman or transfer student.
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) beginning January 1 and no later than February 15.

In general, if you’re from a family of four with an income of $46,500 or less, you could attend Washington State University tuition-free.

Other types of aid

You may also be eligible to receive other types of aid, such as grants, student loans, and work-study.
