Trust this American Book Award winner to empower you to do your best.

Alex Kuo, professor of English, will exhort you to persevere and focus on your goals to achieve success. He credits that approach for many of his own achievements.
“I foster an atmosphere in my classes, as well as in my relationship with students, in which they are encouraged to be actively engaged as participants in their own education,” he says. “Accepting such agency for their own education provides the basic framework for self-empowerment and prepares them to choose who they want to be and what they do with their lives."
Professor Kuo received the 2002 American Book Award for his most recent collection of short stories, Lipstick. He was also honored as the first Writer-in-Residence by the Washington State University College of Liberal Arts.
